Warning - Not for the Mevo Plus/First Gen
Attempting to use this with your Mevo Plus/1 could damage the unit. You can find their respective article here.
We have a process to help users recover their unit if it is not performing as expected.
This process should only be used as a last resort troubleshooting step if you observe that your camera is not powering on properly (i.e. no noise on startup, constantly flashing white LED light) or the hotspot mode is not turning on properly. We highly recommend users open a ticket before trying this process to confirm this is the only solution for the issue you are experiencing.
- Insert your microSD card from your Mevo Start into your computer.
- Click HERE to download the recovery zip file.
- Right-click the mevo_recovery.zip file and select "Extract All"
- Press Extract
- Press Next
- Drag the .mevo_start_recovery folder to your microSD card
(Click here if you do not see the file!)
- Remove the microSD card
- Make sure the Mevo camera is off, then insert the microSD into the camera and power it on.
- When the LED stops flashing, it will turn solid white.
- When this happens. Press and hold the reset button on the bottom of the camera until the LED starts flashing, then release the button.
- Your camera will be ready to use once the camera reboots, you should now see a blue light pulsing indicating you are now in Mevo Hotspot mode.
Troubleshooting Steps
Do you not see the .mevo_recovery folder?
If you do not see hidden files/folders you must enable this manually following the instructions below.
- Search "File Explorer Options" in Windows Search
- Select "File Explorer Options" under Best Match
- In File Explorer Options press the "View" tab.
- Select option, "Show Hidden files, folders, and drives"
- Press "Apply"

- Insert your microSD card from your Mevo into your computer.
- Click HERE to download the recovery zip file.
- Copy the attached here mevo_recovery.zip file to SD card.
- Double click the mevo_recovery.zip file(unpack it).
- Press the "Command" + "Shift" + "." button on your Mac keyboard(you should see ".mevo_recovery" folder)
- Press the "Command" + "Shift" + "." button to turn OFF display hidden files again.
- Then safely eject the SD card from your computer and adapter.
- Make sure the Mevo camera is off, then insert the microSD into the camera and power it on.
- When the LED stops flashing, it will turn solid white.
- When this happens. Press and hold the reset button on the bottom of the camera until the LED starts flashing, then release the button.
- Your camera will be ready to use once the camera reboots, you should now see a blue pulsing light indicating you are now in Mevo Hotspot mode.
