Mevo Multicam: Network Configuration - Wifi, Access Point (Cellular), and Ethernet

Networking

Each individual camera sends raw footage through your local network to the mobile device running the Mevo Studio App. The Mobile device then encodes the footage based on the shot selections you make in the app. The mobile device then sends the encoded video through your network and to the platforms you have configured in the Mevo Studio App located on the internet.

There are 3 ways you can configure your Mevo Studio Setup.

  1. Wifi (Recommended): If it works on one network and not another network, there may be configuration differences such as blocked firewall ports.

To connect the camera with the Mevo Studio App via a Wi-Fi network, please ensure the following ports are open: TCP 38000, TCP 38001, UDP ports range 61000-63000
    • Streaming involves a back and forth communication between your local network and the streaming server to which you are sending your stream. To ensure a successful stream, we recommend opening the following Firewall ports to incoming and outgoing communication: TCP 1935, TCP 80, TCP 443, UDP 53, UDP 2088
  2. Access Point: this will use one of your Mevo Camera as an Access Point
  3. Ethernet

Wifi

When you first open the Mevo Studio app, it will search for nearby cameras. This requires both WiFi and Bluetooth to be enabled on your device. Currently, you can connect up to three cameras of any kind (Mevo Plus/1st Gen, Mevo Start) and combination.

Configuring Camera's WiFi Network

If your camera has a Setup button next to it that means it's not on the same network as the Mevo Studio app device. Tap Setup and you'll see a list of available WiFi networks. Select the WiFi network that you're using for the Mevo Studio app device and you'll be prompted to enter the network's WiFi password.

If you've already connected a camera to your network in the Mevo Studio app then the password will be stored and you'll be able to press Setup and instantly have the option to connect to the network your using.

Access Point

The Mevo Studio app now offers a fast and easy way to setup a hotspot chain so that you can take your multi-camera productions on-the-go and stream over your cellular service. This enables one of your Mevos to act as a WiFi hub (Access Point) that the other Mevos and your phone/tablet can connect to. This will only give you a limited range for where you can setup your Mevo cameras, but has the benefit of being cheaper and easier than having to use a battery powered 3rd-party WiFi router/hub.

Once you've turned your Mevo cameras on and opened the Mevo Studio app you will see a Setup button next to each camera.

Tap Setup on the camera you plan to use as the access point. We recommend using the Mevo camera that is in the center between the other two cameras.

Select No, I do not have a WiFi.

If you'd like to switch to another Mevo to use as the Access Point you can do so here, otherwise tap Next.

Here you can lock the Mevo's WiFi with a password to prevent others from connecting to it. (Recommended)

The Mevo Studio app will begin the process of enabling AP mode on the Mevo you selected as well as connecting the other nearby Mevos to that Mevo. You are now able to stream using your cellular connection!
