Best Network Settings at a Live Venue

You may be streaming an event at a venue where you are a guest or unfamiliar with the setup. Use the following guidelines to request the best possible internet connection.

Wired or Wireless Options

  • If you have a Mevo Boost (Plus) or Mevo PoE (Start / Core), and the venue can provide wired internet, ask for a dedicated Ethernet connection. Ensure that the connection is available where the camera will be located.
  • If you must use Wi-Fi, make sure it is a dedicated network for your exclusive use and not shared with venue attendees. Test it thoroughly before the event.

Captive portals are not supported by Mevo mobile apps. These portals typically appear at hotels or similar venues, where you need a web browser to log in or pay for access. Because there is no direct way to authenticate through the Mevo app, consider using a dedicated 4G-LTE data connection instead.

Speed Tests

Before arriving at the event, ask the venue to run a speed test at the camera’s intended location and share the upload speed results with you.

Recommended Speeds

Aim for 10 Mbps of dedicated upload speed if possible. If 10 Mbps is not available, 5 Mbps dedicated upload should be your minimum requirement. Make sure the venue tests and confirms they can meet these speeds.

If the venue can only provide under 5 Mbps dedicated upload speed, be prepared to lower the broadcast quality to Medium or Low. Higher video quality on a low-speed connection increases the risk of interruptions or unstable streams. Ensuring a stable stream improves the overall viewing experience.
