Can I Charge My Mevo While Using It?

Yes — and if you're planning to record or stream for an extended period, it's a good idea to keep your Mevo camera plugged in the entire time.

Why It's Recommended

Plugging in your camera during use ensures stable power throughout your session and helps prevent sudden shutdowns caused by battery drain. It also keeps your camera cooler, which is especially important during long recordings or in warmer environments.

Mevo Start and Mevo Core

Both Mevo Start and Mevo Core use USB-C to charge and power the device. You can connect to any high-quality power bank or wall adapter, but we recommend one that supplies at least 5V at 2A to ensure consistent performance.

When powered by USB-C, the camera will draw power from the external source before using the internal battery. This helps maintain better thermal performance and extends the life of the battery over time.

Mevo Plus

You can power your Mevo Plus in two ways:

  • Plug it into a power source using the standard USB cable.
  • Use the optional Mevo Boost accessory, which provides extra battery capacity and an Ethernet port for wired streaming setups.

Just like the newer models, Mevo Plus will default to using the external power source first before relying on its internal battery.

If your session will last longer than an hour, we strongly recommend using external power. It improves reliability, keeps the camera cooler, and gives you one less thing to worry about during your production.
