Requirements!
To access this feature, you must have the Mevo app version 2.5 or later (a subscription is no longer required). You will also need a supported microSD card inserted into your Mevo camera.
From the live production screen in the Mevo app, tap the canvas icon to open the graphics overlay editor.
Countdowns can be added to either full screen graphics or over-the-shoulder (OTS) graphics. Choose which overlay type you want to use. In this example, we’ll use full screen.
Countdown overlays are a great way to signal to your audience that your event is about to begin. They give viewers time to get situated and ensure your stream starts with an engaged audience. Whether you're kicking off a live sermon, classroom session, podcast, or sports broadcast, a countdown adds polish and anticipation to your production.
Select Countdown.
Presentation lets you import a slideshow PDF; learn more.
At the top of the screen, you can choose between Countdown and Start Time.
- Countdown lets you specify a duration (e.g., 10 minutes).
- Start Time lets you set a specific target time (e.g., 12:30 PM).
When you're ready, tap the checkmark on the right side of the screen to move to the graphics designer.
In the graphics designer, customize your countdown by adjusting the background color, font color (black or white), and text alignment. You can also choose to use an image background instead of a solid color. Tapping the timer icon allows you to go back and edit your countdown time if needed.
Try uploading your logo or a relevant background image behind the timer to brand your stream or reinforce the event theme.
When you're satisfied with your countdown overlay, tap the checkmark in the top right corner to finalize it. You cannot edit this overlay after saving it, so double-check your settings.
The countdown will be uploaded to the microSD card inside your camera. From the overlay list screen, tap the countdown graphic to preview it.
When you're ready to add the countdown to your live output, tap the checkmark in the lower-right corner.
If you want to update the timer, tap the timer icon before applying it. This will create a new version of the overlay with the updated countdown. You can even save different timers for different types of events (e.g., 5-minute quick starts or 30-minute pre-show warmups).
Your countdown overlay will now appear in your live output. This is a great way to ensure viewers aren't dropped into a silent or blank stream while you're getting ready.
To remove the countdown, tap the canvas icon in the lower right corner and tap the red delete icon, then confirm your choice with the checkmark.
You can also switch overlay types here. For example, change from fullscreen to an over-the-shoulder (OTS) layout by tapping one of the OTS placeholders. This keeps the countdown visible while leaving room for video content or a speaker.
To apply layout changes, tap the checkmark in the bottom right corner.
