When live editing with Mevo, you may notice that your zooms and cuts do not crop the shot beyond a certain point. This is an intentional default designed to prevent pixelation. You can customize these settings to define how far Mevo can zoom and what zoom level is applied when tapping to cut.
Accessing Zoom Settings
- Open the Mevo App and connect to your camera.
- Navigate to Settings > Audio & Video.
Audio & Video menu" /
Zoom Settings Overview
Scroll down to the Editing section. You’ll see two sliders:
- Maximum Zoom: Defines the furthest level of digital zoom Mevo will allow.
- Default Tap Zoom: Determines how much zoom is applied when tapping to cut to a subject.
Tip: The Default Tap Zoom cannot exceed the value set in Maximum Zoom. For example, if Maximum Zoom is 2.3X, the Default Tap Zoom must be 2.3X or less.
Default Behavior
By default, Mevo sets:
Maximum Zoom: 2.3X
Default Tap Zoom: 1.5X
When you tap the screen to cut to a subject, Mevo zooms in to 1.5X by default. If you pinch to zoom further, it will stop at 2.3X magnification.
Adjusting Zoom Values
You can increase or decrease both sliders based on your needs:
- Lower zoom levels are ideal when streaming in HD or in low-light environments to preserve image quality.
- Higher zoom allows more flexibility for close-up shots but may reduce clarity at lower resolutions.
Example: Higher Max Zoom with Default Tap Zoom
In this example, Maximum Zoom is increased while Default Tap Zoom remains at 3X. Tapping applies a 3X zoom, and you can still pinch for more magnification.
Example: Lower Default Tap Zoom
If you reduce the Default Tap Zoom, the automatic cut-in will show more of the scene. This is helpful for wider shots or multi-person framing.
