Mevo Start and Core: Ethernet Power Adapter & 3rd Party Ethernet Adapters (PoE)

Mevo cameras include built-in Wi-Fi, but for stable and consistent connections — especially in professional or long-duration scenarios — Ethernet is a reliable option. Mevo Start and Mevo Core support Ethernet via the official Mevo PoE Adapter and certain third-party solutions.

Using the Mevo PoE Adapter with or without a PoE Network

How It Works

The official Mevo PoE Adapter allows your camera to connect using a single Ethernet cable for both power and internet. Once plugged in, your Mevo camera will automatically attempt to use the Ethernet connection. You’ll see a prompt in the app when a connection is detected.

If the camera’s LED is red or green, it means Ethernet is not active. Confirm the network is live and the adapter is properly connected.

To confirm your configuration, check the network status inside the Mevo app.

Official Mevo PoE Adapter

The Mevo PoE Adapter is purpose-built for Mevo Start and Mevo Core and is the most reliable solution for Ethernet + Power over a single connection.

Technical Specs:
IEEE 802.3-2012 compliant (PD Class 0)
802.3af (PoE) Type 1 PD: 37V to 57V operating voltage
Max input power: 13W

Alternative PoE Adapter (Tested)

While we encourage using the official adapter, we’ve internally tested the Revotech IEEE802.3af PoE Splitter and found it to work well with both Mevo Start and Mevo Core.

Longer USB-C cables between the adapter and your camera may reduce the effective power delivery. If you notice the camera battery draining during use, try a shorter or higher-quality USB-C cable.

As this is a third-party adapter, we cannot officially guarantee long term compatibility, but this is one of the few alternatives we've stress-tested and seen perform reliably.

Ethernet-Only Adapters (Powered by Mevo USB-C)

These adapters connect your Mevo camera to Ethernet using its USB-C port. Because they rely on the camera’s internal power, you must enable the “Power External Devices” setting in the Mevo app. These adapters will not power the camera — they only provide data.

Note: HDMI ports found in many of these hubs or dongles are not supported and will not function with Mevo cameras.

To enable Power External Devices: Open the Mevo app, go to camera settings, and toggle on the setting under "Power & Connectivity."

Self-Powered Ethernet Adapters (with Power Delivery)

These adapters use a separate USB-C input to provide both power and Ethernet to your Mevo camera. Unlike PoE, these require two cables — one for Ethernet and one for USB-C power.

Important Behavior Note

Because these adapters use Power Delivery, features like remote power-on via USB may not work. You may also need to follow a specific order of operations to ensure both Ethernet and power are recognized.

Steps to connect:

  1. Disconnect the adapter from your Mevo.
  2. Disable “Power External Devices” in the Mevo app.
  3. Plug both Ethernet and USB-C power into the adapter first.
  4. Then plug the adapter into the Mevo camera.
  5. Open the app and confirm that power and Ethernet are detected.

If either connection is not detected, unplug and repeat the steps above. Adapter behavior can vary based on manufacturer, but following this sequence helps avoid detection issues.
