How to Replace the Base / Foot of Your Mevo Start

This guide will walk you through replacing the base foot of your Mevo Start. For this process, you will need the following items:

Step 1: Remove the Screws and Base Plate

Using the Torx T10 Security screwdriver, remove the two screws located at the bottom of the base. This will allow you to remove the base plate.

Step 2: Align the New Base Plate

Once the old base plate is removed, align the new base plate with the notch on the Mevo Start. This ensures the new base fits securely.

Step 3: Reattach the Screws

Use the screws removed in Step 1 or the two screws provided to you in your replacement base package to secure the new base plate to your Mevo Start.

Step 4: Transfer the Multi-Purpose Threaded Adapter (Optional)

If you use the multi-purpose threaded adapter, transfer it to the new base plate. This step is optional but recommended if the threaded adapter is part of your setup.

Your Mevo Start is now ready to go with a new base. To help ensure your camera stays in great condition, here are a few tips:

  • Location, Location, Location: When re-installing your Mevo Start, choose a spot that’s less likely to encounter flying objects or accidental bumps.
  • Mount It Right: Use mounts and brackets designed to hold your camera securely, and make sure they’re anchored properly to avoid any unexpected falls.
  • Don’t Brave the Elements: Keep an eye on the weather, especially if your camera is outdoors. Protect it from rain, wind, and other environmental elements.
  • Educate Your Crew: Ensure that everyone who handles the camera knows its value and handles it with care. A little caution goes a long way!
  • Event-Proof It: During busy events, create safe zones around your camera to prevent collisions.

If I buy 3rd party, will this work with Mevo?
There are several third-party base replacements available, both injection-molded and 3D-printed, which may be compatible with your Mevo Start. However, it’s essential to understand that these alternatives lack the proper thermal transfer properties. The original Mevo base is specifically designed to connect with the black circular plate under the camera, which facilitates heat dissipation. Without this feature, third-party bases may not effectively release heat, increasing the risk of overheating and potentially impacting the camera’s performance and longevity.
My unit has a crack beyond the base replacement, can I get this repaired?
Unfortunately, we don’t offer repairs for the main body of the Mevo camera. Additionally, please be cautious when considering adhesives, as they can seep into the unit and negatively affect performance—and note that the use of adhesives will void the warranty.
